CFC-CONTAINING APPLIANCES

World is becoming hotter that every human being is forced to find ways in cooling themselves. The availability of air conditioner and refrigerator in the market have help them solve the issue but not everyone can afford one, only those with five-digits wage are able to experience such a cool way of living without thinking that when they start to use it, they are also contributing harm to the environment because it has been believed that air conditioner and refrigerator have this kind of CFC that can affect the Ozone layer.

            Some “less fortunate' will just settle for an electric fan just to alleviate the hot weather but at some point, it doesn't satisfy them.

             We are all craving for  fresh air but unfortunately, due to global destruction, it already left the world long time ago. We have no choice but to find for alternatives just to continue living without knowing that those options can add to the total devastation of Mother Earth. When  things make us feel comfortable, we never contemplate on what might be its unfavorable effects to us as long as it fulfills our desires.

            During summer time, we long for a refreshments amid the hot weather. Some resto adds  halo-halo and some other iced drinks to their menu to lure for costumers that's worth for  patronage.

            We never really talk about how those ices become frozen inside a refrigerator or what makes the air from an air conditioner cooler? did we ever think of the possible consequences of it to human and to the environment?

            I know for sure that it never crossed your mind because you may be just only thinking of how beautiful life is having something like that. And not excluding myself from the issue, I am guilty. :)

CELLPHONE EVOLUTION

When I was like 9 year-old, my mom had bought her first cellphone. The Nokia 3310. It was a superior phone among others for it was the most expensive one that time. I haven't had any idea of what kind of thing my mom was cautiously returning to its box after every use until the time that it rang so loud . I got suspicious to what it was that it made me got it without her permission. I repeatedly clicked its keypad but i got no response. When i was about to be caught, i hurriedly brought it back to where it was and still had an eye on it the whole day. I really couldn't sleep that night thinking of what it was until my step sister arrived from cebu and borrowed it to play “snakes”. In my total amazement, i attempted to borrow it for a while. My step sis had  taught me on how to play but i just ended up having a “game over” sign.  I always wanted to play its games and listen to its ringtones but my mom didn't allowed me anymore for i might destroy it. She treated it as a precious thing that no one ignorant  is authorized to use it.

            Years had passed by so fast. That certain gadget became inferior because the latest units have now invaded the world. Everyone owns one. The higher the price, the better.

            3310 can be rarely seen. Not everybody wants to text and call outdoor using it because they might think it's cheap.

            The price of it slows down to not more than Php1000 but not everybody is interested though.

            The rapidly growing cellphones have now different styles and applications. There's a touch-screen, TV, dual and triple sim, MP3, Video, Camera and Internet. It becomes a very important gadget today because it is being a part of people's every day existence.

            The 3310 that once became a predominant is now being the one left behind. But in my mom's case, she is still using that phone of hers that stood still with the test of time. She said that no matter how better that new cellphone is, nothing can beat the 3310's service to her life.

FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL CAMERA

 Best memories are worth remembering about. As Filipinos, we are all accustomed  of recording every detail of memorable happenings in our lives. Be it a Birthday party, Wedding, Christmas and New year celebrations, everything needs a photography.

             Analog camera by then was one of the most valuable possessions a man could have. A photographer could make a several shots on a certain subject but it depends on the number of his film and battery life. You also had to make sure that when capturing for photos, it needs to  be precise or else, you would be spending a shot that you could never delete. A flash can be used only during the absence of light but when using an analog camera, it can be used anytime of the day.

            My professor in Photojournalism said that during those times that the royalty families were privileged to be photographed, they would wait for hours posing for the camera before it record their images. It uses a bomb-like material to enhance the light that it made those images looked like a shocked ones. When you see those old portraits hanging on the museum, observe how the subject had behaved in a still position. How can you dare smiling or posing your best when you  had to wait for nearly a day just to have the image? That might be the reason why old photos never had the wacky postures. :)                           

                                                                                                         

        The abrupt flare-up of digital cameras have flushed away the popularity of the analog cameras. Everybody is attracted to the function it offers. You can capture an image with the help of its wide screen. You can manipulate the resolution, size and picture colors. You can make a boundless shots and delete whatever you want to. There's also a  new one with an access to facebook,  a touch-screen and built-in with different features that would surely seduce you to buy one.

COMPUTER ADVANTAGE TO THE YOUNG MINDS

Computer has not only influenced the adults but also the young ones. Children today especially those in the urban areas are getting more literate when it's all about computer usage. They learn faster than the oldies and it helps them enhance their knowledge about everything. In my observation, most of those grade school children only visit internet shops because they are fond of playing computer games rather than go there for some educational purposes. But some experts say that through computer games, it helps activate the minds of the players. They will be urged to think for any intelligent decision to win their characters.

                   Some of the children are not yet affected by that addictive games.Some are still adhering to good education with the help of computers. They become more knowledgeable on a certain subject by just a click.

          Computer is one way of opening the door to intelligence. It has everything a child needs in his growing stage. He can be tutored online or can mimic any educational lessons in youtube or can search anything with the help of some searching engines.

          Parents should always be responsible for their children. Though computers can be of big help, they should always remember that it can also do harm to the young minds. It is abusive and can be a cause of misery. PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS ALWAYS RECOMMENDED. 

FACE the BOOK

The popularity of this one of a kind social networking site called Facebook has become a trend all over the world. Everyone has their own account uploaded with so many pictures and posted with what's on their mind and even added unfamiliar friends just to add to their friendlist that when their birthday comes, more greetings will be gained.

           It has also a list of online friends that you can chat with  whatever you are up to. You can befriend your crush, idols and even your ex's by just visiting their accounts and clicking the “add as friend” button but just make sure they wont ignore you.

          It is something that connects us to be more attached to our long distance friends, lovers and families. We also get updated by the lives of our relatives abroad and seems that they are just facebook away.

           More applications are becoming more and more. You can send free MMS, play online games, know your daily horoscopes, pieces of advice from authors and many more.  Millions of people are becoming addicted to the pleasure and entertainment they get that entices them to be online always.

          But Facebook also has a grim effects. According to report, there were cases of rape among facebook users. Policemen told the people not to post their complete address and never ever entertain strangers when asked to go anywhere for a date. Some fake online buying stuff are already hit the FB world. They would try to negotiate with you regarding the products that they are selling for a condition that you have to deposit the payments to their bank accounts first before getting the products. That's how disadvantageous FB world is.

          No matter how entertaining Facebook is, we should always remember that abuse is too dangerous. We should always be vigilant to the possibility that we might be a victim of some other cruelty that is happening on that site. Instead of logging in to facebook and just visiting your friend's account just to comment and like their status, why don't you settle for something educational and time-worthy habit? Visit the library and FACE the BOOK. :)

TECHNOLOGY: A TOOL FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The sudden outburst of technology in the world of education has open the door to easy teaching methods of mentors to their learners. Through the use of computers and other materials, teaching-learning process become an easy thing for them. Most of the learning institutions have developed more effective ways of educating the student through the use of power point presentation during reporting, lectures and other imparting-of-knowledge techniques.

          The students can easily understand the lessons using that method compared to the old-style structural materials because power point presentation is much more appealing to the eyes of the students that it will make them listen attentively to the discussion. Whereas using the old-style method, most of the students will just feel sleepy during class hour for the learning capability of them depends on how comprehensive the words being written in that manila paper are.

          The school works of the students can be done in a very short span of time by just visiting their favorite searching engine to find some of the ideas they needed. But some of them also practice the ctrl+c ctrl+v power when they are in a cramming situation just to meet the deadline.

          Because of this technology, teachers and students become very dependent to what it does to their lives. Some of the responsibilities of them are being relied to it that they often forgot their affiliations.

TECHNOLOGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Climate change is now becoming oblivious and is definitely getting dreadful. We may wonder why during summer time, heavy rains fall and during rainy season, hot temperature increases. It's the effect of the ravaged environment ruined by human being.

          The arising technology advancement is surely one of the reasons of that environmental problems that are affecting the whole world. New establishments are growing, transportations go bigger and technology-influenced gadgets increases and all of these have contributed pollutions to the Earth.

          Technology has bring wealth to the world. It might be one of the reasons of economic growth in the country. But we really are unconscious of the bad effects of it to the environment. Technology can do no harm when appropriately manipulated. It is still in our hand of how we are going to use it.

           As a human being, supposed to be the steward of nature, should take part in being a responsible citizen to the community. Though we cannot have the power over technology, we can still help the dying Mother Earth by simply doing our part in conserving and improving the scarce resources of today. Lead the way to a green tomorrow! 

CELLPHONE ADDICTION

The existence of cellular phones have changed many lives. We can hardly live without it and admittedly, i'm a living proof to that because I can't leave the house without bringing my phones and i can't even pass the hour not to browse it just to check my messages. We really want our cellphone to be the most in-style;We want to buy another when a new unit with the latest apps hits the counter.  In other words, we were born to show off that we've got the latest one.

          Cellphone is the reason why we get updated of our loved ones life happenings. In just a text away, we can easily share our stories with them.

           It connects far distant people to be closer again through simple messages and calls. But cellphone addiction is a life-risky one. According to some medical experts, the radiation it brings can cause brain cancer and can also affect our eyes. They advise us not to put it near our heads when sleeping so as to protect ourselves from the adverse effect of it.

           We may sometimes disregard the very role of that gadget to our lives. We often use it to deceive others and make fun out of them. We are always abusively using it by downloading those inappropriate videos and games from computers and even share it with our chums. It is also costly in a way that we always want to subscribe to unlimited call and text just to keep in touch with our friends by sending group messages that they cannot relate into. Well, that's the fad today and i  also do the same.  :)

           If i were to have the super power to turn back time, i will definitely go to the time that cellphones were not yet invented. I guess, life was so much more peaceful and radiation-free compared today. But without it, how can i be updated to the world? It somehow have many advantages yet have a very harmful effects when used improperly but after all, cellphones are cellphones. Without someone in control, it will never be an issue.

TECHNOLOGY: A CURSE OR A BLESSING?

Every one of us has our own perception of what technology is all about. We might somehow think of the reasons of why it's been the talk of the town. Most of the people today have their own computers with an internet connection that they can freely visit any websites of their interest. They can get in touch with their loved ones and be updated of the happenings worldwide. Second to money, it also makes the world go round.

          Everybody is getting used to the satisfaction it brings. Even a gradeschool pupil has a facebook account and is always updated 24/7, a high school and college students can't help themselves posting of what's on their mind and even go tweet just to let the whole world know of their status.

          Office works can be done in a very short span of time because of this technology that they become dependent to. Student's school works become an easy thing with the help of ctrl+c and ctrl+v power. Teachers can teach well with the use of effective teaching method influenced by technology like powerpoint presentation.

          It is also the reason of why students miss an examination and always been in the guidance office for not attending the class because they would rather be in a computer shop than to be in school. The reason why some of them can visit any porn sites that influence them to do what it shows. The  reason of why they  waste their money and time battling hard to win their characters in a very famous computer game, DOTA. The reason why some of them ceased their schooling because it already ruined their lives and  the very reason of so many radiation-related illnesses among its users.

But whatever it brings, it is still in your hand on how you are going to use it.

Now, be a jury and tell the universe how essential or unsafe technology is.
